Born in 1998 in Adana, Ülker Tümer started cello with Viacheslav Kaynov at the Çukurova University State Conservatory in 2009, then with Dilbağ Tokay at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Istanbul State Conservatory in 2013. She attended masterclass organized by AIMA and Cervo Academy in Italy, and of Toels Svane, Alexander Hülshoff, Maria Kliegel, Peter Bruns, Umberto Clerici, Christoph Henke, Johannes Moser, Claus Kanngieser, Nicolas Altstaedt, Natalia Gutman and Claudio Bohorquez in Rutesheim Cello Academy. Recently, she attended Amsterdam Cello Bienal and studied with Anner Bylsma and Julian Steckel.
As a soloist, Ülker Tümer was awarded with the third prize in the Benyamin Sönmez International Cello Competition, the second prize in the Berlin International Music Competition “Sforzando”, the first prize in the International Music of Germany and Austria held in Bulgaria, and as a chamber musician she was awarded with the second prize in We Play Together held in Paris. She also won a special prize in the Helmut-Spehl Competition organized in Freiburg Hochschule für Musik in 2017.
In 2011, she participated in the Bolgar Music Festival held in Russia and gave concerts solo and chamber music concerts. In 2013, she took part in the Uguazu En Concierto Festival with the Adana String Quartet, became a member of the Doğuş Children’s Symphony Orchestra, Camerata Saygun and AIMA Festival Orchestra. She also appeared in the “Shining Star” series by İş Sanat, “Young Soloist” series by Pera International Music Festival, and performed with her teacher Dilbağ Tokay in the “Masters and Their Students” series organized by Akbank Sanat. After performing her teacher Jean Guihen Queyras in the Amsterdam Cello Bienal, she also participating in the Freiburg Chamber Music Festival.
As a soloist she performed Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Cellos, Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C Major, Elgar’s Cello Concerto with the orchestras including Bakırköy Chamber Orchestra, M.S.G.S.Ü. Istanbul State Conservatıry Orchestra and the Çukurova State Symphony Orchestra. She also gave concerts with the 4CELLOS in the 44th International Music Festival and wit the Cello Ensemble in Izmir. Ülker Tümer currently studies with Jean Guihen Queyras at the Freiburg Hochschule für Musik.
