The Istanbul Music Festival’s much treasured project, Festival Presents Its Young Soloist, continues to encourage and promote young talents nationwide. It offers audiences the delight of discovering new gems, while providing a precious opportunity for young musicians to earn international recognition. The young soloist chosen in the branch of piano this year is in fact one of the youngest soloists in the entire history of the festival: the 11 year-old Kaan Baysal, who studies with Eser Bilgeman Şakir as a part-time student at the Istanbul University State Conservatory. The project, embracing youth not only by debuting a young soloist but also by hosting a youth orchestra at the festival, will cooperate with the Anadolu University Symphony Orchestra, in a performance which will also mark the orchestra’s festival debut.
