Defne Kükürt was born on September 24, 2008 in Ankara. She has been studying violin with Leonid Kerbel's student at the Musica Mundi Music School in Belgium since 2022. Between 2014 and 2022, Kükürt studied violin at Bilkent University Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, Music Preparatory School, as a student of Bahar Kutay. She took part in many concerts both solo and as a part of the orchestra.
Some of the works she has performed in recent years include; Tchaikovsky’s Melodie, op. 42, no. 3 at the Musica Mundi Concert Hall in 2023, Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto no. 2 with Bilkent University Symphony Orchestra in 2022; Kreisler’s Preludium and Allegro at Bilkent University in 2021, Beriot’s Violin Concerto op.100 at Bilkent University and Kabalevsky’s Violin Concerto op. 48 in 2020, Maria Theresia von Paradis’ Sicilienne at Bilkent University and Novacek’s Perpetuum Mobile in Istanbul in 2019.
In 2020, Kükürt won the third prize at the 8th International Josef Micka Violin Competition held in Prague with Édouard Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole op. 21. She performed Mozart’s A Little Nightmusic and Symphony no. 29, A Major with Bilkent University Children’s Symphony Orchestra.
As a chamber orchestra member, Kükürt performed Prelude and Gavotte by Shostakovich at Musica Mundi Concert Hall in 2022 and Vivaldi’s Concerto for Three Violins, F Major in 2023.
She participated in a master class with Felix Froschhammer at the Kalamata Music Festival in 2018 and worked on Beriot’s Violin Concerto no. 9 and Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Violins, A minor. She attended the masterclass of Igor Tkatchouk at Bilkent University in 2019 and Özcan Ulucan in 2018. She performed Perpetuum Mobile at the end of Adilhoca Aziz’s masterclass at the Büyük Ada Music Festival. Kükürt continues her music education in Belgium.
