Centred on the myth of Orpheus, this poetic programme brings together members of the Berlin Philharmonic and countertenor Iestyn Davies in a journey spanning four centuries. From Monteverdi’s operatic visions to a newly commissioned work by Donghoon Shin inspired by Rilke’s Sonnets to Orpheus, and from Barber’s Dover Beach to Mendelssohn’s impassioned String Quartet Op. 13, the concert explores the themes of love, loss and transformation across time.
