Centring on the theme of Cultural Landscapes, the 43rd Istanbul Music Festival takes the audience on an excursion to Spanish landscapes in this recital featuring one of the reliably mesmerising musicians of the day. Being a child prodigy, Angela Hewitt has grown into one of the world’s leading pianists, appearing in recital and with major orchestras throughout Europe, the Americas, and Asia. She has also been hailed as the pre-eminent Bach pianist of our time. Angela Hewitt makes the piano sing, dance, tremble and throb. So which great pianist other than Angela Hewitt to trust to portray the Spanish landscapes - dances by the Granados, a suite by Albeniz, or de Falla’s fantasies - with her resolve to imbue every musical moment with an unrelenting sense of theatre.
