The 12 Cellists or as they are sometimes called “The Glorious Twelve” is a unique ensemble that unfalteringly conveys beauty and melancholy, security and flexibility, along with the infectious joy in their playing. Naturally, every symphony orchestra has its cello section, but nowhere else in the world have the deeper, larger strings joined together to form an independent ensemble - an orchestra within an orchestra - meeting with success after success. Since 1972, they have appeared as an ensemble regularly; yet only during orchestra holidays - thus making them a true rare gem to find for music lovers. Their eight concerts in 2015 will take the 12 Cellists to various destinations in Germany, as well as London, Luxemburg, Rotterdam, and nowhere other than the 43rd Istanbul Music Festival. This concert will also feature the Turkish premiere of Tayfun Erdem’s March of the Blue Butterflies.
