One of the leading cellists of his generation, Gautier Capuçon and the up-and-coming Turkish pianist who has already won several international awards, Gülru Ensari are bringing their synergy alongside their musical sensitivity and virtuosity as a duo to the festival. Their festival debut will feature Beethoven’s variations on a Handel oratorio; Shostakovich’s vivacious yet meditative sonata, which is one of the last works of a period when he could still freely compose in his own country; Malinconia, ripe with Sibelius’ melancholy; and Franck’s sonata in A - all for a night to enjoy the perfect coupling of cello and piano.
