The Istanbul Music Festival’s uplifting project “The Festival in Search of its Young Soloist” focuses on cello in its second year, presenting the 17 year-old gem Cansın Kara. Having made his concerto debut with the Mersin University Academic Symphony Orchestra when he was 13, Cansın has since appeared with orchestras and in recital in Turkey and abroad. He is currently studying with Thomas Carroll at the Yehudi Menuhin School. Champion of the Mersin 1st National Cello Competition, he has also won the third prize in the 7th International Antonio Janigro Cello Competition and the second prize in the 10th Austria-Liezen International Cello Competition.
