40th Istanbul Music Festival opens with a magnificent concert which brings together the new generation of Turkish singers thriving on the international stage with Turkey’s leading symphonic ensemble, Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of its artistic director Sascha Goetzel, in Beethoven’s monumental 9th Symphony, which testifies the high ideals of freedom, equality and brotherhood. This year’s opening concert features the celebrated discoveries of the festival in previous years either as young soloists or through winners of the Leyla Gencer Voice Competition: Simge Büyükedes, Ezgi Kutlu, Murat Karahan and Burak Bilgili.
