Istanbul Modern will host the musical world of Victor Hartmann’s paintings, which have been given new life through the music of Mussorgsky. Mussorgsky had composed over the drawings and watercolour paintings of the famous artist-architect, including those of his travels to Poland, France, Italy, and Ukraine. This colossal work for piano, “Pictures at an Exhibition” will be interpreted alongside Tchaikovsky’s “Seasons” by Anna Vinnitskaya, recipient of 1st in 2007 Queen Elisabeth Music Competition and Laureate of the Leonard Bernstein award. Having won Diapason d’or with her first recording she is considered to be among today’s most prominent pianists. At this concert a passionate journey begins into the expressive universe of art and music.
