A unique ensemble with their programmes, dynamism and quality of performance, Akbank Chamber Orchestra will accompany the world renowned cellist Antonio Meneses in this concert. Making his mark on the music world with the first prize and the gold medal he won at the Tchaikovsky Competition in 1982, Meneses has shared the stage with conductors like Karajan and Muti, Jansons, Abbado, Previn, Temirkanov, Rostropovitch throughout his career. Featuring the Violoncello Concerto of Schumann whose 200th birthday is commemorated this year, the concert will also present the Turkish premier of the Symphony, No.4 by Arvo Pärt who is celebrating his 75th birthday in 2010.
