Aiming delight the music lovers by casting the light on the long forgotten music created in İstanbul a few centuries ago, world music pioneer Kudsi Erguner will be performing works of Ottoman and Greek composers like Zaharya and İlya that stand out from the rest of the esoteric church music of the time. Tracing the origins of Turkish music’s Ottoman legacy, Erguner brings the history Greek, Armenian and Jewish music of İstanbul into the light, as a result of an extensive research into thousands of manuscripts for this project. Following the words of Jalal al-Din al-Rumi “those who like the taste of sweet, appreciate it in all forms”, Erguner demonstrates that music lovers can appreciate the music of all ages and cultures in his this project.
