For over 52 years, the Istanbul Music Festival has been a cornerstone in Türkiye’s classical music calendar. With its lineups of esteemed artists and versatile selection, the festival draws in audiences of all backgrounds. This year’s edition promises yet another splendid experience with the theme of Beyond Borders, emphasising a wide range of musical styles and highlighting cultural diversity.
The 53rd Istanbul Music Festival will go beyond geographical borders and celebrate the music of our neighbouring countries, as well as offering opportunities to redefine the boundaries of music with projects that bring different disciplines together. This year’s edition explores the rich cultural heritage of Turkish, Greek, Iranian and Azerbaijani instruments that share a common history and traditions.
The Festival will embark on cross-border journeys into different disciplines where works from the Baroque, Romantic, Classical and Contemporary eras will meet break dance, hip-hop, yoga, painting, visualisation and theatre. This summer, the festival will feature the most respected orchestras and soloists of our time, as well as world premieres, special projects supporting young musicians, and children's workshops and family concerts to be held at various locations in Istanbul.
