Bassoonist Selin Akın, born in 2004, was admitted to the Istanbul State Conservatory of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University at the age of 11. She started her bassoon studies with Cenk Aktalay and completed both her secondary and high school education at the same institution with high academic achievement.

She is currently pursuing her undergraduate studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München in the class of Professor Dag Jensen. Known for her strong academic performance, Akın achieved an outstanding grade of 1.30 (‘sehr gut’ / very good) in her principal bassoon studies.

Despite her young age, she has achieved significant international recognition. She was awarded scholarships to attend the Moritzburg Festival Academy and the Zermatt Music Festival Academy, and in 2026 she will become the first Turkish musician to be admitted to the Grafenegg Music Academy, one of the world’s most prestigious contemporary music events. She is also a scholarship holder and member of Live Music Now München, where she regularly performs in community outreach concerts.

In the field of chamber music, Akın has participated in projects with Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz, one of Germany’s leading music institutions. As a soloist, she performed G. Rossini’s Bassoon Concerto with the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra in 2025.

Supported by the Tekfen Music Foundation, Selin Akın continues her studies while aiming to build an international career and represent Türkiye on leading concert stages worldwide.
