Started double bass with Burak Karaağaç at the Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory, Gizem Sözeri attended masterclasses of Rinat Ibragimov, Thomas Martin, Klaus Trumpf, Thierry Barbe, Miloslav Gajdos, David Murray, Bugoslaw Furtok, Eric Hansen, Miloslav Jelinek, Irena Olkiewicz, Einars Upatnieks, Gunars Upatnieks, Martin Sranko, Panu Parssinen, Jan Krigovsky, Mette Hanskov, Adam Bogacki, Waldemar Tamowski, Yi Song, Sonia Ray, Czeslaw Zabek and Jakub Olejnik.

Sözeri received third prizes in the 12th International Double Bass Competition in the Czech Republic in 2012 and in the Karol Lipiński International Double Bass Competition in Poland in 2013. She was also awarded the second prize in the Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf International Double Bass Competition in Slovakia in 2014, and first prizes in the International Simandl Double Bass Competition in the Czech Republic and in the Amsterdam International Double Bass Competition. She is a member of the Doğuş Children’s Symphony Orchestra, Turkish National Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, Ankara Youth Symphony Orchestra, Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory Orchestra, Anadolu University Symphony Orchestra, Başkent University Chamber Orchestra, Presidential Smyphony Orchestra and Ankara Bass Quartet. Sözeri was one of the soloists in the Ankara State Conservatory Young Stars Concert and gave a recital in the Shining Stars concert series by İş Sanat.

Gizem Sözeri currently continues her studies with Burak Karaağaç at the Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory.
