Istanbul Music Festival presents its young soloist
The auditions of the project entitled “Istanbul Music Festival in Search of its Young Soloist” has been completed on 21 March.
A total of 21 young Turkish violin students, from the conservatories of the Çukurova University, Bilkent University, Hacettepe University, Istanbul University, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Dokuz Eylül University in Turkey, as well as the Juilliard School, Folkwang University of the Arts, University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Prayner Conservatory of Music and Dramatic Arts, and the Royal Academy of Music London, applied for the auditions. The jury comprising violinist Prof. Çiğdem İyicil (Director of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatory), violinist Prof. Cihat Aşkın (Director of Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory), Prof. Ramiz Malik Aslanov (Music Director of Istanbul University State Conservatory Symphony Orchestra) and the Director of Istanbul Music Festival Yeşim Gürer-Oymak auditioned the candidates on 18 and 21 March 2012 at the ITU Mustafa Kemal Amphitheatre and Fulya Arts Centre, respectively.
The young soloist of the 40th Istanbul Music Festival will be Emre Engin. He will play the 3rd Violin Concerto by Saint-Saens with the Istanbul University State Conservatory Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Ramiz Malik Aslanov on 15 June 2012 at the Süreyya Opera House.
