Iannis Xenakis
Oresteia
Lasts 100' inc. interval.
Previously staged in Greece with its theatrical interpretation, Iannis Xenakis' Oresteia will be in İstanbul Music Festival with its new arrangement as a concertante. Based on Aiskhlos' well-known tragedy, Xenakis combines vocal arts with instrumental music in this oratorio, which revolves around themes of democracy and peace. Under the stage direction of Athens Centre of Vocal Arts' director and baritone Spyros Sakkas, the concert will be realised with the participation of Borusan İstanbul Philharmonic Orchestra members, under the baton of Gürer Aykal, Mimar Sinan University Mixed Choir, Children's Choir from Turkey, and Mixed Choir of the City of Athens from Greece. A poetic narrative of hegemony, treachery, war, justice, democracy, and hope awaits its audience at the historical atmosphere of Hagia Eirene Museum.
